New Class Pet

Our class has a new pet! Meet our tadpoles - rescued from a ditch on school campus after it rained. This whole year in first grade we have been learning all about life cycles and now we get to see it in action!

Information for Field Day!

A few reminders:

1. Field Day Activities are scheduled to begin at 8:45 and end around 11am. Parents please come and cheer us on!

2. Wear a hat, "Friendship Friday" t-shirts or play clothes. 

3. Bring a bottle of water

4. After the activities are done, the elementary students will walk over to the park, Seraen no Mori for a picnic and time to play.

5. Students should bring a home lunch and a NO sugar drink.

6. Rollerskates and roller blades may be brought to the park but be sure to have helmet, kneepads and other safety equipment.

7. Bring sunscreen and USE IT!!

8. Parents are free to take your child home after lunch at the park but only AFTER you have notified the teacher and the office.

Week of Mar 25-29

Reading: This week in reading, we will reading a story called On the Job with Dr. Martha Smith. Our vocabulary words will be any, Dr., busy, care, eight, took.

Math: We will reviewing for the Terra Nova test next week by covering word problems, two digit numbers, and fractions.

In Phonics, we will be learning the long vowel sound i.

In Bible, we will continue with the Easter story talking about the death and resurrection of Jesus!

Writing: We will be writing an acrostic for the words SPRING and EASTER.

It will be a GREAT week!!

Terra Nova Testing

On April 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, the first graders will be taking a series of standardized testing called the Terra Nova. We will begin practicing and reviewing for the test next week. There is no need to practice at home. More information about the Terra Nova will be given next week. But for now, this is what the test will be covering:

reading, language, math, science, social studies, word analysis, vocabulary, math computation, Bible.
