Open House

Hi everyone!

Tonight is Open House! All parents and children are welcome to come. 

Please meet in the cafeteria before 6pm. Mrs. Bezner will be sharing some exciting news about this school year.

After that, you will be dismissed to come to my classroom where I will get to share some exciting things about our classroom. Room 212. There will be 2 sessions in case you have multiple children in elementary school!

Field Trip

Our first grade class field trip will be on May 24th, Friday. We will be going to the zoo at Kodomono Kuni. We will go to the zoo in the morning, eat lunch together outside, then go to the Wonder Museum in the afternoon. I hope that the parents can join us for the field trip. PLEASE CHECK THE PAPER IN THE FRIDAY FOLDER. It is the permission slip and more information!!!

Please send ¥180 AND the permission slip with your child to school!!

The online scores for the Terra Nova Standardized Testing has arrived! You will be getting a sheet home today in the Friday Folder that explains how to access the Terra Nova scores. It is a bit complicated so here are some more detailed instructions. Please remember, you will be getting a paper copy in a few weeks so if you cannot access it do not worry.

1.  インターネットで http://acsi.ctb.com のサイトへアクセスします。

2. ”ACSI Data Online for Parents”と書かれた方の”Login”を選択します。

3. 右真ん中部分の黄色い"New User"と書かれた場所を選択します。

4. Activation Codeを入力します。

5. その他のUsernameやPasswordを設定します。

6. Your children の "Spring 2013, Grade:1"をクリックすると Terra Novaの結果を開く事ができます.

Reading Campaign

The Reading Campaign is a month long celebration of reading at OCSI. This year the dates are from May 7th, Tuesday - June 7th, Friday. Students will

• read from a variety of genres
• complete AR tests
• increase comprehension
• increase vocabulary
• read for longer periods of time
• read more often
• grow in the enjoyment of books
• collect fun prizes!

Different genres: nonfiction, fantasy/science fiction, fairy tale/folk tale, mystery, animal stories, historical fiction, biography, realistic fiction, sports, and award winners. 

Here's how it works:

Choose a book from one of the genres. Read 3 books in that genre and pass the AR tests. Collect a Level 1 Prize!

Choose another genre, then read and pass the AR tests on three books. Collect another Level 1 Prize!

After 5 genres - collect a Level 2 Prize!

After 10 genres - collect a GRAND PRIZE!!

(Parents - you do not have to do anything at home except encourage your child to read, read, read!)

 The month of May is where OCSI celebrates reading! We will be having a reading campaign. The students are going to read 3 books of a different genre, take the AR test, and if they pass, they will get a prize. I am sending home to form today. You do not have to do anything at home, except to encourage your child to read, read, read!
