We have been having a fantastic time in 1st grade so far this year!!

This week, our reading story is about ants, so throughout the whole week, we will be learning about Ants! Today we listened to a story between a boy and an ant and decided, "Should the boy squish the ant?" Each student wrote their own opinion.

Somethings to remember:

I forgot to copy the homework for tonight! Sorry! If you want, you could have your child just practice their spelling words.

Also, picture day is September 25th! Please come to school dressed for your best. You are allowed to send your child with a change of clothes if you would like your child to change into more suitable clothes.

Hi all!

I hope you had a great 3 day weekend! I sure did!

This week we will be continuing right along in our lessons, starting our first reading lesson for the year as well as continuing to be introduced to math, phonics, Bible, and language arts. The students are having a good time in chapel, P.E., art and their other specials!

Somethings to remember:

On the newsletter, for homework, it said that Tuesday night we would have "Short a" homework and "spelling" homework. We did not get to teaching the reading lesson today, so it will be moved to tomorrow.

Since this is the first week of spelling, we will just be doing a practice test and getting used to spelling words.

First week of School

Hi all,

We have successfully finished our first week of school in first grade! We had a lot of fun getting used to what first grade would be like learning procedures and making new friends. We did some coloring which helped us transition from kindergarten. We also learned all 10 of our classroom rules putting hand motions to all of them. We read several books, worked on our letters and numbers, and got to take part in a few of our specials including art and P.E. 

I hope to see you parents tomorrow night at 6pm at Open House! Be safe through the typhoon and check the school's website for any information.

Open House

Hi parents!

We have a had a fun first few days of school so far. We have made new friends and explored the classroom. Please remember to attend Open House on Friday night from 6pm in the cafeteria. After a few announcements, you will be dismissed to the classroom where I will talk about my goals for this year and answer any of your questions. Looking forward to meeting with you all!

Welcome to 1st grade at OCSI. I will be your teacher, Ms. Turner. I am really excited to have each and everyone of you in my class this year. Let's work together to make this a great year where we learn a lot and have fun doing it!
