Happy Friday!
This week:
We continued reading famous Folk Tales/ Fairy Tales such as Goldilocks and the Three Bears, 3 Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood and the Magic Wish. The students were enjoying all the read-alouds this week. After we read the famous Fairy Tale, I read a “Fractured Fairy Tale” where the story is a little different but the same base fairy tale. The students enjoyed those as well! Some fun ones were Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs, Three Ninja Pigs, and Ninja Red Riding Hood.
The students are continuing to write their own Fairy Tale. The students are so creative! We are learning that the process to write a story is difficult and takes a long time. I can’t wait until the students see their final work!
In Spelling we did a spinner game with s blends!
In Spelling we did a spinner game with s blends!
In Math, we started Chapter 7 which is all about graphs! We learned that a survey is a way to find data by asking the same question to different people. We learned that data is the information we collect from a survey. We also learned about a tally chart and how to make a table. These students are quickly becoming mathematicians!
In Bible, the students are learning that God always keeps his promises. Saul who was a good king at first, later turned not-so-good and stopped trusting in God. He died in a battle against the Philistines and now finally, David can be king! God picked David when he was young because God saw his heart, because “The Lord looks not at what men do. Men look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7
Student-Led Conference: The students are working hard on their Student-Led Conference Portfolios. They have filled it with work from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarter and they are excited to show you! Did you receive the invitation to the conferences? March 20th, there is no school, instead, you are invited to come at the time listed to listen to you child share about their progress!
Math Books: We finished our first math book! The students will be bringing it home today. Feel free to look through it to see what we’ve done! There are also some extra pages that you can rip out to do with your child. If you don’t need the math book and want to recycle it, feel free to send it back to school and we’ll add it to the school’s recycling! :)
