This week in 1st grade:
Friday was Culture Fair! The 1st grade students enjoyed going to the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classrooms to learn about countries from Africa, South America and Asia. We learned about the food, money, clothing, toys, houses and so much more about the countries. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students did a great job!
This week we focused on practicing for the Student Led-Conference and finishing our Fairy Tales.
In Math, we are deep in the middle of learning about all different kinds of graphs! Picture graphs, bar graphs, tally charts, oh my! We’ve also done some surveys in our own class and it’s fun to figure out the information we can learn from the different graphs.
In Bible, we are continuing through the stories of David. David has finally become king and he brought the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. David was so happy he danced before the Lord. There was peace for a while, but David’s son Absalom started to do some not so good things and even declared himself the king. David continued to trust in God and His promises. Finally, Absalom lost and David continued to rule over Israel for 40 years. We will take a break from learning about David and jump to the New Testament for a little while.
For Social Studies, we are starting to learn about the different places of a community in preparation for Kid City. This week we learned about what happens at a Police Station and a Fire Station. We are so thankful for policeman and fireman who keep us safe!
