Friday News and Information for Week of April 28-May2

This Week:

Reading: Our reading strategy was “Fables” or better known as “Fairy tales and folk tales.” We read some very familiar stories and tried to think of what is the moral - or something we can learn from the story. We read “The Tortoise and the Hare,” “The Three Little Pigs,” “Goldilocks and the Three Bears,” “The Little Red Hen,” and “The Fox and the Stork.” The students did a great job thinking about the morals from those stories!

Math: This week we focused on money. We added two digit numbers together for the purpose of buying from a store. We also talked about giving change and counting up to get the right change. I opened “Ms. T’s Store” and each student had to pick two things, tell me the total, pay with some money, and figure out the change. They did great!!!

Bible: We finished up the end of Jesus’ life on earth with the amazing story of the Resurrection on Monday and Jesus appearing to his disciples and finally his going back to heaven. It was amazing to hear that Jesus is coming back again someday, and in the mean time, he has given us a job to do - go and tell others about Jesus. That’s why I’m in Okinawa!

Today was also Field Day! We had SO much fun! Because it was raining, we were inside for the Field Day part. But we still got to do the 30 yard dash, changing game relay, long jump, high jump, and limbo. After that, we did inside bowling and ate lunch inside the classroom. After we ate, we went to the park and played for a long time! I’m sure all the first graders will sleep well tonight because I sure will!
