Friday News for the Week of April 22-26

Happy Friday!

This Week:
Reading: We focused on Nonfiction books. We compared nonfiction books with fictions books to see the difference. We noticed that nonfiction books give us information or teach us something. We also learned that nonfiction books have Titles, a Title Page, Headings, Photographs, Glossary, Index, and Table of Content. On Friday we did a scavenger hunt to find different examples of a nonfiction text features in different books!

Math: We moved into learning about measurement. We learned the words “measure” and “unit” and we went around the room measuring things with connecting cubes. Next we will learn about telling time!

Bible: We jumped back into Solomon after learning about Easter. We learned that at the end of Solomon’s life, he became very confident and stopped trusting in God. He followed after the idols of his wives. As a result, God wasn’t very happy. He kept his promise to David, but he divided the kingdom in 2 parts. We’ll learn more about that next week. Today we did a recap of all of God’s promises from Adam and Eve all the way to Solomon.

Writing: The students are doing great writing realistic fiction! We reviewed how to bring our characters to life and good spelling strategies. Next week we’ll pick our favorite piece and publish it!
