Friday News for September 2-5

Happy Friday! Here is a recap of our week:

Reading: We started practicing for “Read to self” and gaining stamina! This week, we made it all the way to 7 minutes of quiet, constant reading. I am so proud of them! Our goal is 20 minutes so we will continue to gain stamina next week. This week we also finished some beginning of the year assessments, as well as took our first AR book quizzes from our library books.

Look at those quiet readers!!

Math: We finished the first introductory unit of math. This included before and after numbers, tally, skip counting, and learning some fun math games! Today was the first math test and all the students did great!

Social Studies: We are starting a unit called “Me on the Map.” We first looked at the spectacular world that God made: Earth. We learned about all the languages, countries, and people that live on earth. Next week we will start to look at Asia and Japan and narrow into Okinawa.

Chapel: This week at chapel, we learned the story of King Josiah who became at only 8 years old! He asked the people to clean out the temple and they found the Holy scriptures - God’s word! We learned that God’s word - the Bible is a “light onto my feet and a lamp unto my path.”

Bible: This week we learned the story of Noah’s Arc as well as the tower of Babel.

Next Week:
