Friday News for Week of November 3-7

Happy Friday! Parents, thank you for coming to the Parent Observation today! I hope you got a little sneak peak into what we do in 1.1.

This Week:

Reading - Beginning, Middle, and End.
  • Every story has what we call a BME. This week, we read a few stories and tried to figure out what happened in the beginning, middle, and end. We tried it together one time and then the students drew pictures of the beginning, middle, and end.

Writing: We are working on where to put periods. :)

Math: We learned about DIMES this week! This is the third coin we have learned so far! A Dime is worth 10 cents and can be traded for nickels and pennies. The students are doing great with counting money!

Bible: We are almost finished with the story of Moses! The Israelites have been wondering in the desert a long time and you’d think they would be ready to enter their promised land, but when they get close, the don’t trust God and as a result, they have to wonder the desert for another 40 years... C’mon Israelites! When are you going to start trusting in God?

Next Week:

Bible Memory: “Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
Spelling Words: ball call fall hall mall tall talk  walk  your do

Upcoming Dates and Information

Walkathon: Kindergarten to 2nd grade students have to have an adult to walk with them. If another adult wants to walk too, they need to also turn in a permission slip and 2000 yen. For example: if a 1st grade student turns in 2000 that means the student and 1 parent can walk. If the other parent wants to walk too, that parent needs to turn in their own permission slip. You can find the slip on the website, or ask me and I can send one home with your child. If you have ANY questions, PLEASE email me! :)

Scholastic Book Orders - Again today, the Scholastic Book Orders were went out. If you do not want to order anything, can you please return the paper back to school? I didn’t have enough for everyone in my class. Also, you can look at books online. You can order here online - http://world-schools.scholastic.co.uk/okinawa-christian-school-intl or you can turn in the paper and money. The deadline will be November 21st!

Renaissance Connect - You received a paper today in your child’s folder to log into Renaissance Connect. This is the website through which we take our Accelerated Reader book quizzes and our STAR test

Don't forget!

Have a wonderful weekend!! :)
