Friday News for the Week of January 14-18

Happy Friday!

We had lovely weather for Kite Day on Monday! Thank you to the parents who came out to watch and help! Here’s some pictures:

This Week:
Reading: We learned about Problem and Solution. Almost every book has one more more problems and usually at the end, there is a solution. We realized this week that Problem and Solutions connect to our real life. PROBLEM: my pencil broke SOLUTION: get a new pencil! I hope these students grow up to be Problem Solvers!

Math: We are working hard in subtraction strategies such as count back, use a number line, and use doubles facts.

Writing: We are having SO fun in writing! This week I showed the students many “collections” of items and the students had to pick the WINNER and explain their opinion why it should be the winner. Today the students brought their own collections to judge!

Science: We are also enjoying learning about sound. Today we made a book fiddle.

Bible: We are enjoying following the stories of Joshua and the Israelites as they prepare to go into Canaan! Today we learned the epic story of the battle of Jericho. We watched a video to review when Joshua and the Israelites won the battle of Jericho.
