Friday News for week of February 3-7

It is getting warmer and warmer outside! Feels like summer is coming already. My first graders are like busy bees as we learn more in more.

This week:

Reading: We read the story called, "Did You See Chip?" It was actually a play. On Thursday, we practiced the plays in groups and then performed them! The students did a great job. They used props and were acting like they were in a real show. So much fun!

Bible: We started learning about the Judges. We learned about Othniel, Gideon, and Samson.

Math: We are finishing up Unit 5 with learning about probability with dice, turn around facts, and patterns in the facts. We also learned something fun today called the function machine.
If you say that the rule is +2, then you figure out what goes in and out. So if 4 goes in, 6 comes out, etc.

Writing: We are continuing to write procedural writing. The students are getting better and better! We learned how to write transitions words such as first, next, last, and first, second, third.

Next Week:
