Friday News for Week of September 26-30

Happy Friday!

This Week:

Reading: We focused on Authors and Illustrators. We learned that in some books the Author and Illustrator is the same person and in others the Author and Illustrator are two different people. We also read a book that Ms. Turner wrote when she was 10 years old and learned that anyone can be Authors and Illustrators. We also learned that some Authors use a pseudonym which means they use a different name then their own. Maybe some of these kids will grow up to be Authors and Illustrators!

Math: We finished our first unit of ADDITION!! We finished with being super quick with our math facts. We used flashcards so we can be so quick with our addition facts. The students did well on the test and we will move on to Subtraction next week.

Bible: This week we also finished the story of Abraham! We learned that after all his waiting that God finally gave him a son named Isaac. This story is so cool because God had a special plan for Abraham when he told him to leave his home. Way down the line, Jesus was even born through the family of Abraham. Here’s a fun video we watched:

Social Studies: We learned about our country Japan this week! We learned that Japan has 4 main islands, Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu. We even tried writing those in kanji! We learned that Japan is a beautiful country with lots of tradition and history but also modern things and technology.
